My Art

Occasionally I use pure watercolour but, I’m increasingly inclined to take that as a starting point and add whatever I need in the way of pen, pencil, or some of the exciting new mediums that are becoming widely available now, to get the effects I want. There is so much to chose from that, often, it’s difficult to know where to stop! With portrait work I prefer to use either coloured pencils or, my personal choice, plain graphite. I find it easier, with a pencil, to achieve the necessary precision as far as the main features are concerned. Once those are established it’s possible to loosen up the rest of the piece. Inks offer many exciting possibilities and one of my latest ventures is working with them, and a very small amount of paint, on handmade paper.

I sell through various shows and exhibitions and also have my own range of cards. Sometimes I produce a calendar featuring a selection of my work. I also have magnetic bookmarks, keyrings, coasters, mugs and cushions made from some of my paintings. I am also happy to discuss one off prints of suitable pieces onto canvas. (See cards & calendars page).

I am happy to discuss commissions and I also enjoy giving classes and demonstrations and holding one-day workshops (contact me for more details). One venue, in particular, has become very popular. Contact details below.
